Tele Vue NEW for 2018: TV-60, TV-76, TV-85 OTAs & Accessory Packages

All Tele Vue telescopes now come standard as optical tube assemblies (OTA) that can be turned into “complete” units with optional, customized accessory packages.  The package costs can be substantially less than pricing each component individually. This blog takes you through the changes for the Tele Vue-60, Tele Vue-76, and Tele Vue-85 models. Accessory packages for the larger scopes will be covered in a future blog.

Our small APO doublet refractors offer a combination of versatility, performance, portability, and build quality unique in the market. The objectives are our own proprietary apochromatic designs producing startlingly natural images whether it’s the Moon, planets, or birds! High power images are essentially free of detail robbing color fringing at the diffraction limit and contrast is maximized using glass-tuned multi-coatings and dead-flat baffling to control stray light reflections.

Their short focal lengths provide wide fields-of-view to observe some spectacularly large deep-sky objects such as the North American nebula, all three sections of the Veil Nebula, the full extent of the Andromeda Galaxy, the Double Cluster, etc.

From the powder-coated tubes and anodized aluminum finishes to the silky-smooth, lash-free focusing, they are rugged and easily carried on-board airplanes, so you can travel to exotic and dark-sky locations. Tele Vue telescopes are engineered and built to be your life-long observing companions; and someday, your kids’ as well.

All Tele Vue telescopes come with a 5-year Limited Warranty.

Designed for the ultimate on-the-go portability, this 60-mm objective diameter, 360mm focal length, f/6, APO (Doublet) refractor has an OTA that closes down to a mere 10″. The maximum field-of-view is 4.3° with 32-mm Plössl (11x) or 24-mm Panoptic (15x). The 1¼” drawtube features both a quick-focus and helical fine-focus. The OTA comes with a sliding metal dew shield and adjustable balance bar with mounting threads that fit camera tripods. A super-versatile scope, it’s wonderful for terrestrial spotting, astronomy, as a super-finder, and camera lens. It even won the SmartMoney award when it was introduced (see “Tele Vue is for the Birds” and “Tele Vue TV-60 is Not Just for the Birds” blog posts). There are two accessory packages available.

• Tele Vue-60 Custom Padded Carry Bag to hold scope, diagonal, and eyepieces
•  1¼” 90° Everbrite Diagonal  has 99% reflection across the visual spectrum
• 25-mm Plössl eyepiece, with 17mm eye-relief,  yields 3.4° true field of view at 14x in this scope.

This substitutes a 60° Everbrite diagonal for the 90° Everbrite as it is more comfortable for birding / spotting toward the horizon.

Our 76-mm objective diameter, 480-mm focal length, f/6.3, APO (Doublet) refractor combines compact size with APO optical performance.  Maximum field-of-view is 5.5° with our 41-mm Panoptic (11.7x) or 55-mm Plössl  (8.7x). The 5.0° field-of-view of the 31-mm Nagler (15.5x)  is another option for wide-field/ self-finder use. The 2″, 10:1 dual speed, rack-and-pinion focuser features dual tension adjustment screws on the drawtube and dual lock screws on the end-ring. The OTA includes a sliding metal dew shield and screw-on metal lens cap. Available in tough, durable, poder-coated ivory or green tube. A custom fitted padded case (mobile site), with room for all standard accessorizes, is included. The latitude of power and field afforded by this scope allows you to explore astronomical, spotting, and birding targets with the same scope.

This package includes everything you need to start observing with the Tele Vue-76 telescope:

• 3″ clamshell-style Ring Mount with mounting threads to attach to a heavy-duty tripod or a variety of telescope mounts.
• Telescope balance aid allows for a greater range of shifting the OTA over the mount. Great when trying to balance binocular viewers or heavy eyepieces and cameras.
• 2″ 90° Everbrite Diagonal (99% reflection across visual spectrum) with 2″ to 1¼” adapter.
• 18.2-mm DeLite eyepiece, with 20-mm eye-relief,  yields 2.3° true field of view at 26x in this scope.

Step up to our 85-mm objective diameter, 600-mm focal length, f/7, APO (Doublet) refractor. Its combination of optical performance and airline portability has been delighting astronomy and birding enthusiasts, and reviewers alike. Evaluation of double-stars,  viewing lunar detail, viewing deep sky, and photographic uses were reported in Sky & Telescope as: “Truly awesome! …Incredible!…the view almost blew me off my chair!…” The conclusion, “…an extremely powerful, compact instrument capable of delivering stunning images of the universe.” Maximum field-of-view is 4.4° with our 41 -mm Panoptic (14.6x) or 55-mm Plössl  (10.8x). The 4.0° field-of-view of the 31-mm Nagler (19.4x)  is another option for wide-field/self-finder use. The 2″, 10:1 dual speed, rack-and-pinion focuser features dual tension adjustment screws on the drawtube and dual lock screws on the end-ring. The OTA includes a sliding metal dew shield and screw-on metal lens cap. Available in tough, durable, poweder-coated ivory or green tube. Custom fitted padded case  (mobile site), with room for all standard accessorizes, is included.
