#televue40: Birding & Nature with the TV-60

At the beginning of the year, in honor of Tele Vue’s 40th year, we asked you to tag your social media images taken with or taken of Tele Vue equipment with the hashtag #televue40. You did so and there are too many images to highlight them all, but we’ll bring you a few at a time though these blog posts.

Blue” by flickr.com user Mark Kilner licensed by Some rights reserved. Used by permission.  A “Common Blue” butterfly imaged in North Foreland, UK. The bluish color really pops against the yellow and dark-green of the plants.

Last spring we were wowed by the great Tele Vue TV-60 birding and nature images that Mark Kilner was posting on Flickr.

Weapon of choice” by flickr.com user Mark Kilner licensed by CC BY-NC-SA 2.0. Used by permission.

We asked him why he choose that scope and his response turned into a blog post (see our May blog post: Tele Vue is for the Birds).

Catch of the Day” by flickr.com user Mark Kilner licensed by Some rights reserved. Used by permission.  Beautifully composed, this image shows why this bird is aptly named. A Kingfisher’s behavior is to watch for fish on a high perch, fly down to snatch the prey, then return to the perch to consume the prize.

Yes, a telephoto lens can be used for landscapes. Just click this image to see all the details.

Yorkshire Hillside” by flickr.com user Mark Kilner licensed by Some rights reserved..Used by permission. Lush, green, pastoral fields, stone walls, and grazing sheep taken from Blakey Ridge, August 2017.

Mark has continued to take exemplary images with the TV-60 throughout our 40th anniversary  year. This includes news-worthy photos like this menacing funnel cloud in the countryside.

Funnel Cloud” by flickr.com user Mark Kilner licensed by Some rights reserved. Used by permission. This appeared over Stodmarsh, UK on June 30, 2017. A funnel cloud, possibly about to land, in the vicinity of a residence is an attention-getting image. As a result, this photo got some play on social media.

At first glance the following pair of photos appear to be a “before-and-after” set. But they were actually taken about a month apart over the summer.

Blue Damsel” by flickr.com user Mark Kilner licensed by Some rights reserved. Used by permission. Damselfly photographed in Grove Ferry, UK in July 2017.

Our award winning, high performance, super-compact Tele Vue-60 is worth considering for those looking for a super-portable APO refractor. It fills many niches including travel, super-finder, day/night scope, and is a great telephoto.

Tele Vue TV-60 is a 60mm, f/6 APO with 4.3° field of view (32mm Plössl). Just 10-inches long without diagonal~
