Just two weeks ago and a day ago we were scrambling to get the banner and handout literature ready for the Tele Vue Apollo 11mm eyepiece reveal at the Northeast Astronomy Forum (NEAF) show. At the same time, our imaging equipment was being gathered, transported, and setup for the Northeast Astro-Imaging Conference (NEAIC) that would begin the next day. Additionally, products not being shown at NEAIC were cleaned and collected for the NEAF show commencing that weekend. Plus, we’d inspected and boxed hundreds of eyepieces, Barlows, Powermates, and Paracorrs for our Cosmetic Sale at NEAF. All NEAF items had to be transported and setup on Friday afternoon at Rockland Community College, along with the NEAIC gear brought over when that show ended. We had our work cut out for us that week!
A package arrived at Tele Vue’s door on the Monday before the 2019 Northeast Astronomy Forum (NEAF). It was quickly ushered into the corner office where a small group gathered around the parcel. When opened, three black boxes were withdrawn. For the first time, after many months of development in secret, each black box was opened by a member of the design team. At Tele Vue, we call these internal product reveals a “magic moment” — when fresh prototypes are unboxed in the office for “first light.” This was a “magic moment” unlike any other; one 50-years in the making. The Apollo 11mm commemorative eyepiece had landed!

It has been 9-years since our last sale of cosmetic product at NEAF. This year we will have limited quantities of new in box, cosmetic-blem, Tele Vue eyepieces, Powermates™, Barlows, and Paracorr coma correctors at VERY SPECIAL, SHOW-ONLY pricing at our Booth #522. All products include original eyeguards and lens caps.
Here at Tele Vue headquarters, eyepieces, scopes, accessories, tools, literature, and banners are coming off the shelves and being boxed up. It looks like we’re moving. Are we? No, it’s just that we’re getting ready for the annual Northeast Astronomy Forum (NEAF) in Suffern, NY. All the aforementioned activity here is because we bring everythingto this yearly event. After all, NEAF is the billed as the “World’s Largest Astronomy & Space Expo.” Over the course of two days, thousands of visitors will descend on the Field House at SUNY Rockland Community College (RCC) in Suffern, to see, handle, and maybe buy just about every astronomical product on the market today — all under one roof.
Tele Vue will be exhibiting at two back-to-back shows just an hours drive north of New York City this week. The Northeast Astro-Imaging Conference (NEAIC) is Thursday and Friday and the Northeast Astronomy Forum (NEAF)is Saturday and Sunday. You can buy tickets at the door for either (follow links at end of blog post).
If you post a photo of our booth at either event on social media, use the following harshtag sequences so we can like it:
If you’re in the New York metro area the third week in April, we’ve got a lot to show you at two back-to-back shows we’ll be at: the annual Northeast Astro-Imaging Conference (NEAIC: April 19 & 20) and Northeast Astronomy Forum (NEAF: April 21 & 22) — both in Suffern, NY — about an hours drive northwest of New York City.
We’ll exhibit an updated night vision demonstrator to show you the benefits of using our visual and smartphone accessories designed for the Tactical Night Vision Company (TNVC) night vision monocular. This is the system that just won a Sky & Telescope 2018 Hot Products Award. In the coming months, Sky & Telescope will be publishing their test review of the system. You can get a preview of this review on page 63 of the April 2018 issue and looking at the image below.
NEAF has always been a great show for us. It’s a wonderful chance for people to get their hands on our equipment and really see and feel the care and quality we put into our products. While five of us were constantly busy showing scopes, making eyepiece recommendations, and enjoying talking amateur astronomy, no one was busier than my father. He was giving show-goers a glimpse of what our eyepieces, adapted to night vision, could do. Continue reading “About the NEAF Night Vision Demonstration”
The harsh snows of late-winter in the Northeast may have put a damper on some amateur astronomy activity this year. But with the arrival of spring, amateur astronomers in the region were jolted into activity by the appearance of the Northeast Astronomy Forum (NEAF) – just 30-minutes north of New York City. Hosted annually by the Rockland Astronomy Club at Rockland Community College, it is billed as the “World’s Largest Astronomy & Space Expo”. This spring-weekend show features presentations by world-class astronomers and scientists, astronomy outreach groups, kids activities, a big solar star party, and over 100 vendors and exhibitors. With the biggest collection of telescope equipment manufacturers and vendors under one roof, it’s Tele Vue’s biggest event and we bring all our scopes, eyepieces, and accessories every year.
